This is a Brooks Falls bear commonly known as 879 or “Boarse”. I saw him miles away from Brooks Falls on a stream north of Naknek Lake. Two days later, he was fishing at the Falls. It’s probably a 30 mile walk from where I saw him to the Falls, but there is some speculation that he swam across a considerable portion of Naknek Lake.
