It’s a day that many across the City of Philadelphia have been dreading. Talked about in harsh terms, like “death spiral,” “doomsday,” or, as Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker called them last week, “nightmarish,” sweeping service cuts have been set to hit the city for some time. And, today, Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, they take effect. Yet, the real impact may not be felt until the work week begins on Monday. And, by then, there will be additional service cuts.
