Oct 1, 2008 · That is the ballistic windshield, the AS-1 glass in the unarmoured is about 1/4" thick, these have a piece os glass bonded to the poly for the wipers, these, by the book are supposed to stop a .50 cal round.

Jan 31, 2018 · I know the ballistic and bulletproof glass will be thicker but I am curious about the standard glass. My M1038 has the original windshield glass and it’s badly cracked on the drivers side. I have found that there are multiple different frame sizes for soft vs hard top but can’t find any info on if they use the same glass.

Feb 8, 2023 · They are the same in terms of fitment of the glass. However the old ones use screws to hold the retainers in, and the new ones have threaded inserts that accept bolts. And the hole locations are different.

Apr 25, 2020 · I will post some pics of the retaining armor that needs some modifications to make the new style fit the older ones. I don't know what the auction price is but ours showed a military costs of @$535 if I remember. According to the glass installer, he can also install replacement ballistic glass in old frames.

May 30, 2018 · On the other hand, the husband describes the "box" as being very solid, only some surface rust, original wood interior and floor, functioning doors, and "bulletproof glass" (I think the THICK mil-spec window panes are being mistaken for and might give the false sense of "armor".) He also said it does NOT leak and that the roof is also solid.

Since I'm not going into action with my HMMWV, I bought 1/2" tempered glass that fits perfectly into the rubber frame without movement and a fraction of the price. I bought all 4 windows only to discover that the front doors used 1/4" glass.

Jan 22, 2020 · Hope to get along with that project starting next weekend. First a coat or two for sealing up the wood so it won't soak up from the glass, then glass and resin for waterproofness, followed by fairing compound, a LOT of sanding, and the gelcoat. I know this will be a massive amount of work, but I am hoping it will be worth the effort in the end.
