The U.S. Supreme Court declined on Friday to hear a challenge to the legality of a restriction imposed by Washington, D.C., on large-capacity ammunition magazines in a case that gives the justices a chance to further expand gun rights.

The US Supreme Court turned away a fresh gun-rights appeal, refusing to question the District of Columbia’s ban on large-capacity ammunition-feeding devices.

In a separate action, the court decided against taking up an election case involving mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania that pitted Republicans against Democrats.
