Twelve Verizon retailers in Ohio will be giving out free backpacks to kids in their local communities on July 27.

On Sunday, Verizon gave away $3 million worth of free backpacks as part of its 13th annual school rocks backpacks giveaway. A nationwide event that aims to help students start the school year strong.
