Firefighters are battling a brush fire that broke out near a Providence cemetery Tuesday evening, according to the city’s fire chief.

Anyone who notices flames, smoke or other signs of a brush fire is urged to call it in immediately so firefighters can investigate and contain it as quickly as possible.

A brush fire broke out Tuesday night on the East Side of Providence. Fire Chief Derek Silva said on X that the fire was burning in the woods around Lippitt Park and Swan Point Cemetery. Silva said about 40 firefighters were at the scene.
