Pulse may not have been good, but by virtue of being Netflix’s first foray into medical procedurals — one of television’s longest-running and most-successful genres — Pulse was going to be precedent-setting one way or another.

The lights are out and doors have closed on The Residence, as Netflix has canceled the White House-set murder mystery after just one season. Starring Uzo Aduba as Cordelia Cupp, the “greatest detective in the world,” Shonda Rhimes ‘ whodunnit joins freshman medical drama Pulse on the chopping block of canceled shows.

Freshman Netflix shows “ Pulse ” and “ The Residence ” have both been canceled, Variety has learned. Both series aired just one season at the streamer.
