Donald Trump faced some dark and heavy accusations on Sunday after sending National Guard troops into Los Angeles to deal with protests over federal deportation operations. Among the darkest accusations was that the president hoped that sending in the troops would actually make the situation worse.
On Sunday, the office of Gov. Gavin Newsom of California sent a letter to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth objecting to the deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles.

The Trump administration said it would send 2,000 National Guard troops into Los Angeles after a second day in which protesters confronted immigration agents during raids of local businesses.
