Israel struck Yemen’s Houthis on Sunday after the Iran-backed rebels fired a new type of missile at Israel. The Israeli military said it struck a military site where the presidential palace is located, as well as two power plants and a fuel storage site.

The strikes come just days after Houthi rebels fired a missile toward Israel, which the military said was the first cluster bomb launched by the rebels since 2023.

It now appears that a Houthi ballistic missile launched against Israel on Friday contained cluster munitions. This also appears to be the first time the Iranian-backed Houthis have used this type of missile against Israel. Iran has long used the Houthis to test new missile and drone technology.
