NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metropolitan Nashville and its surrounding counties are activating cold weather shelters as a significant snowstorm is expected to cap off a cold week in Middle Tennessee. Here is a list of shelters available in Midstate:

With Tuesday's First Alert Weather Day​, and temperatures expected to drop into the single digits Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, the City and County of Denver activated its Cold Weather Shelter plan.

The Salvation Army, located at 417 Rutherford Road in Greenville, opens its cold-weather shelter when overnight temperatures drop below 40 degrees. Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota counties are opening their cold weather shelters on Monday and Tuesday.

Several cold weather shelters are opening their doors this week in Escambia County as a cold weather advisory is in effect. The National Weather Service of Mobile issued a cold weather advisory to begin Monday night through mid-morning on Tuesday.

For the week of Jan. 5-11, the cold weather shelter is located at Trinity Lutheran Church, 705 Wilson Ave., Tullahoma, 37388 Starting Jan. 12-18, the shelter will be at Cedar Lane Church of Christ, 1200 Cedar Lane, Tullahoma, 37388 Jan. 19-25: First Presbyterian Church, 204 E. Grundy St., Tullahoma, 37388

Volusia will open a shelter Monday through Wednesday, too. Temperatures are expected to dive into the mid-30s.

Cold weather shelters are opening across the greater Tampa Bay region as temperatures are expected to dip below 40 degrees with lower wind chills throughout the week. They're to assist those who are homeless or live in homes without adequate heat who are unable to find other accommodations.
