The 9th Circuit Court will hear arguments Tuesday in a high-profile legal battle between President Trump and Governor Newsom over who has authority to control California’s National Guard.
A coalition of over 50 local governments and officials has filed an amicus brief in support of California Governor Gavin Newsom's opposition to President Trump's federalization and deployment of the California National Guard,
“The district court has no authority to usurp the president’s authority as commander in chief,” Kelly said in an emailed statement to the Southern California News Group. “The president exercised his lawful authority to mobilize the National Guard to protect federal buildings and personnel in Gavin Newsom’s lawless Los Angeles.”
