NEW YORK – The familiar yellow-bordered cover of the monthly National Geographic will no longer be for sale on newsstands starting next year, part of cutbacks affecting the venerable magazine.

(SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDING) YUYAN: My photograph is the cover of National Geographic's Pictures of the Year. But unfortunately, it's also the last issue of the magazine to ever be on newsstands.
