The nation's largest school district is expanding its student cellphone ban to include any "internet-enabled" devices such as tablets and smartwatches.

The policy, enacted in response to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s push take phones and other electronic devices out of students’ hands during the school day, will be in effect for the school year beginning this fall.
