We’ve seen American Idol hopefuls hit a handful of heavy classics over the years, from Evanescence covers to Dio tributes. This week, however, judge, country-pop veteran and noted metal fan Carrie Underwood decided to join in on one contestant’s try-out, as he started screaming his way through cuts from Korn and Drowning Pool.

Carrie Underwood is a judge on American Idol now, and she recently joined a contestant singing Korn and Drowning Pool classics during his audition. The country vocalist became a superstar after winning the fourth season of American Idol back in 2005. Nine albums later, her career has come full-circle and she is now a judge on the competition show.
