The submarine eruption of Tonga's Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano last year reportedly disrupted satellite signals halfway around the world, according to scientists.

Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haʻapai is a volcanic island which is approximately 30 km south-southeast of Fonuafoʻou island in Tonga. The volcano lies on the heavily active Tonga-Kermadec Islands volcanic arc.
