Pope Leo XIV arrived in the papal summer retreat of Castel Gandolfo on Sunday to start a six-week vacation, giving the hilltop town back its most illustrious resident after Pope Francis stayed

Pope Leo will continue to deliver his weekly Angelus addresses from Liberty Square (Piazza della Libertà) in front of the pontifical palace on July 13 and on July 20.

The pontiff will stay on the hilltop Vatican property “for a period of rest” from the afternoon of July 6 to the afternoon of July 20.
