Four Tesla cars have been set on fire in Germany in an arson attack and police say a "political motive cannot be excluded".

Police said that since a potential political motivation could not be ruled out, the police state security department of the State Office of Criminal Investigation had taken over the investigation, according to German news agency dpa.
