Tremonton • Northern Utah law enforcement leaders said more people would have died in Sunday night’s shooting in Tremonton if not for the actions of two city police officers who were killed and a sheriff’s deputy who was wounded.

TREMONTON, Utah — Two police officers were killed and another injured, along with a K-9, after a suspect opened fire following what was described as a domestic disturbance Sunday night in Tremonton. The unidentified suspect is now in custody while the officer who was not killed and the K-9 are reported to be in fair condition.

Two officers from the Tremonton-Garland Police Department were fatally shot, and a third officer and a police service dog from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office were injured by gunfire, after police responded to a reported domestic violence call in Tremonton on Sunday night.

A massive police response was underway in Tremonton in Utah's Box Elder County on Sunday evening amid reports of an active shooter at a residence. Local news outlet Box Elder News journal reported that the police response was underway near the David Drive and 300 East. As of now, the police in Trenton have not provided an update on the situation.
