Solar stocks plunged Thursday after House Republicans passed a tax bill that terminates key clean energy credits.

Shares of U.S. solar companies fell sharply on Thursday after the House of Representatives advanced President Donald Trump's sweeping tax and spending bill, which may end numerous green-energy subsidies that have supported the renewable energy sector.

The bill sunsets renewable energy credits, as expected, but includes more stringent provisions and rollback dates that were seen as especially bleak for rooftop solar.
