State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were shot and killed, and State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were shot and wounded in “targeted shootings” in Brooklyn Park and Champlin, two neighboring suburban cities 10 to 20 miles outside Minneapolis.

Thousands of anti-Trump protests are erupting across the United States this weekend under the banner of “No Kings” day.

The June 14 "No Kings" protests, organized by activist group Indivisible and its partners, are part of a "nationwide day of defiance," with events slated to occur across the country. Falling on Flag Day and Trump's birthday, the day of protest are intended to help counter Trump's planned Washington, D.C. military parade.

The largest "No Kings" protest on June 14 is expected to take place in Philadelphia as a nod to the country's history and to avoid accusations that protesters are opposing the Army parade in the nation's capital, organizers have said.

The "No Kings" protest and march happening in Philadelphia on Saturday coincides with hundreds of rallies scheduled to take place across the country.

Thousands of No Kings Day protests are expected across the U.S. on June 14 to protest the Trump administration's policies, including 33 in Iowa.

Millions are expected to gather in “No Kings” demonstrations in over 1,500 cities on Saturday, the same day the Army will celebrate its 250th anniversary on Trump’s birthday.

"We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events..."

Indivisible, the group behind the "No Kings" protests scheduled around the country, plan to participate in the 2025 Stonewall Columbus Pride March.
