Jannik Sinner retired with an apparent illness 23 minutes into the first set of the Cincinnati Open final against Carlos Alcaraz.
Sinner’s Cincinnati final came to an abrupt end after less than half an hour. Struggling with illness, the world No. 1 tried to push through but just couldn’t find his rhythm. Down 0-5 in the opening set against Carlos Alcaraz, he was forced to call it quits.

With the result, Alcaraz wins his third Masters 1000 title of the season and his eighth overall in his storied young career.
