The Israeli military expanded its Lebanon campaign with hundreds of airstrikes early on Monday, as the long-simmering border conflict with Hezbollah threatened to explode into a larger war. Dozens of Israeli warplanes struck more than 300 targets in southern Lebanon on Monday morning,

Thousands of Lebanese fled the south, and the main highway out of the southern port city of Sidon was jammed with cars heading toward Beirut in the biggest exodus since the 2006 conflict.

Israel said it hit more than 300 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Lebanese officials said at least 182 people were killed.
