The storyline of Donkey Kong Bananza has sparked numerous fan theories but what is the truth of the DK timeline and is Pauline the same one from Super Mario Odyssey?

When Donkey Kong Bananza was first announced, speculation immediately set in that it was being made by the same team that made Super Mario Odyssey. That turned out to be true, but we've since learned that speculation the game began as a Super Mario Odyssey sequel are not.

The latest UK charts data is in, and as expected, Donkey Kong Bananza is a hit, climbing all the way to the top to beat the likes of Mario Kart World, Hogwarts Legacy, and EA Sports FC 25.

Donkey Kong Bananza started development after Super Mario Odyssey was finished, Nintendo has said, and work first began on the original Switch console.

But while the formula is largely the same, I never got the sense that Bananza was retreading old ground. It turns out that swapping out a mustachioed plumber for a tumbling hairy gorilla is appropriately transformative.
