Notre Dame has named CJ Carr the starter for the team's season-opener at Miami, bringing to an end one of the most intriguing quarterback battles from across the country during fall camp. Carr has been battling with Kenny Minchey throughout the offseason,

CJ Carr, grandson of former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr, is a redshirt freshman at Notre Dame and has been named the starting QB.

The team announced on social media Tuesday afternoon that redshirt freshman CJ Carr will be the starting quarterback for its season opener at Miami 12 days from now. Carr had been battling for the starting job with redshirt sophomore Kenny Minchey since the spring game.
