Russian security forces say they have detained a Ukrainian spy accused of killing a senior Russian general in a car bomb attack in Moscow's suburbs on Friday. The FSB secret service said they had apprehended "Ukrainian special services agent Ignat Kuzi" who had "planted explosives in a Volkswagen Golf" to kill Gen Yaroslav Moskalik.

A police car has collided with another car in a crash as officers responded to a robbery in which a security guard was pulled to the ground outside a shop. The driver of a Hyundai suffered minor injuries in the collision at the junction of Queens Drive and Prescot Road in Old Swan,

According to Mitch McCoy, a police spokesman, the crash happened just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Vandeventer and West Belle Place avenues, along the dividing line between the Vandeventer and Grand Center neighborhoods.

The officer’s patrol car caught fire following the crash, with him still inside. He was rushed to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in serious condition, but stable.
