Yaroslav Askarov made 24 saves and stopped all 11 shots he faced in the third period as the San Jose Sharks snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Warsofsky got the response he was looking for Thursday as goalie Yaroslav Askarov finished with 24 saves to help the Sharks beat the Lightning 2-1 before an announced crowd of 11,103 at SAP Center, snapping an eight-game losing streak.

Not surprisingly, McDavid was named the game’s first star and Draisaitl was picked as the third star. But the best player was Yaroslav Askarov, the Sharks’ goaltender. Askarov received second-star honors, but his spectacular performance was the story in his first time facing the almost impossible challenge of stopping those two superstars.

Tyler Toffoli and Mario Ferraro scored, and Yaroslav Askarov made 24 saves for the Sharks (12-23-6), who were 0-7-1 during the skid. Defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who missed the first 40 games because of a shoulder injury, had an assist and was plus-1 in 11:56 of ice time in his season debut.
