The whole episode is reminiscent of what happened just over a month ago at I-20 and Columbia Highway in Aiken County. A tanker carrying a highly flammable liquid crashed under a bridge, and although no fire erupted, the chemical spill shut down I-20 for hours.
A fire and crash involving a tractor-trailer carrying fuel on Saturday morning caused an overpass to collapse, shutting down I-20 in both directions in Aiken County.
Officials said, a section of Interstate 20 near Aiken County will remain detoured until early next week following significant damage to an overpass bridge.
Officials said a tractor-trailer crashed and caught on fire under a bridge in Aiken County at mile marker 13, not far from the South Carolina-Georgia border.
