LIBERTY, N.C. — The Toyota battery manufacturing plant at the Greensboro-Randolph mega site is barrelling towards the start of production! The manufacturing plant announced on Wednesday, Feb. 5 that it is ready to start production and will start shipping batteries in April 2025.

The company will hire more than 5,000 workers to make batteries for hybrid and electric cars as part of Toyota's approach to encouraging EV ownership in the United States.

Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) is set to commence production at its new battery manufacturing facility, marking the company's first in-house battery plant outside of Japan. The facility is scheduled to begin shipping batteries for North American electrified vehicles in April.

Toyota is set to open its $14 billion battery plant south of Greensboro in April. As part of the automaker’s third-quarter financial report given yesterday in Japan, Toyota Chief Financial Officer Yoichi Miyazaki said the sprawling plant near Liberty has finished preparations for production and will start shipping batteries in April.
