Kimono: An evolving icon of fashionAt the Tokyo National Museum, “The Modern Kimono,” featuring the most exquisite pieces from as far back as the Edo Period (17th-19th c.), was easily one of the more popular exhibits.
The kimono, which means ‘thing to wear’ in Japanese, can be traced back to Japan's Heian period, over 1,000 years ago, and its status has changed a lot over time.
