When the Pi is shut down in software, the Arduino can sense that the Pi isn’t on any more and disconnect the power. The remote control is used to turn the Pi on.

Sounds like nightmare fuel for an AV professional – unless you take matters into your own hands and replace the IR remotes with an Arduino and custom software.

I can't seem to find a program that will let me use my IR port on the laptop as a remote control for my TV, VCR and DVD player. Surely such a thing exists?
