Three Democrats are running for a state Senate seat in a Baton Rouge district. In Lafayette, two well-known Republicans and a Democrat are competing for a seat there.
Qualifying is open for a February special election to replace state Senate seats left by Baton Rouge Democrat Cleo Fields and Lafayette Republican Jean-Paul Coussan.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The 14th Judicial District Court has two vacancies on the ballot on Mar. 29 in Calcasieu Parish. Now those seats have temporary judges. The election will replace Judge Clayton Davis, who was elected to the Third Circuit, and Judge Robert Wyatt, who retired at the end of last year. Qualifying is Jan. 29 through 31.
