YouTube is reportedly planning some big changes to its TV app, including adding more paid-for streaming services to its homepage.

That's according to The Information, which says that a new YouTube app for Smart TVs is coming in the "next few months". It will look "more like Netflix, Disney+" and will include the option to add other streaming platforms as channels, much like Amazon Prime Video.

YouTube currently lets you explore shows and movies from services like Paramount Plus, Max, and Crunchyroll as part of the Primetime Channels feature it rolled out in 2022. Similar to the setup on Amazon’s Prime Video, you can select and subscribe to these third-party services through YouTube, all while the platform gets a cut of the payment.

YouTube plans to redesign its TV app and add more content from third-party streamers. According to The Information, the update could arrive in the next few months and make YouTube’s homepage look more like Netflix.
