The NYPD responded to a bomb threat at Barnard College following a disruption at the Milstein Center on Wednesday.
Pro-Palestinian protesters held a sit-in Wednesday, demanding that the school reverse the expulsion of three protesters.
New York lawmakers are calling for more pro-Palestinian protesters to be disciplined after police arrested nine Wednesday during a takeover of the Barnard College library. Congressman Ritchie Torres said the private college should expel student protesters after some tried to keep administrators from leaving the building during a bomb threat.
The Police Department said several demonstrators were taken into custody during the sit-in at the college’s main library.
Nine protesters were arrested at the scene as dozens of NYPD officers entered the library. The bomb threat was deemed not credible.
A small group of pro-Palestinian student demonstrators occupied a building at Barnard College’s Manhattan campus Wednesday, clashing with staff and sending one employee to the hospital.
