Microsoft is pushing out a Windows 10 KB5001716 update used to improve Windows Update that is ironically failing to install, showing 0x80070643 errors.
An update for the Windows recovery environment has frequently failed for some time with error code 0x80070643. There is no longer an automatic solution planned.
The infamous "0x80070643 - ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE" issue is back with one of the new Windows 10 updates KB5048239. Thankfully, there is a fix.
Microsoft has informed users about an error that may appear after installing the April 2025 update for the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), identified as KB5057589.
Microsoft quietly released a new update for Windows 10 users under KB5001716. It is however causing issues installing with 0x80070643 error similar to KB5034441.
It's not like there aren't already updates performed by Windows Update that basically wipe the OS and take 30 minutes or more to install, and just installing a new WinRE version takes only moments.
