The View host Ana Navarro took time out of her vacation to hold Melania Trump’s feet to the fire over the “performative hypocrisy” in her letter to Vladimir Putin. “I just can’t with the performative hypocrisy from these people,” Navarro wrote in the caption to a video post on Instagram Tuesday.

"What about all the children in America?" Navarro asked, calling out Melania Trump for asking Putin to end the Ukraine war in the name of kids.

In theory, it was perhaps a noble gesture: First Lady Melania Trump sending a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin pleading for the safety and welfare of the children. In practice, it was, well, a bit barmy.

It’s possible Trump has good reason to believe Putin is ready to deal; we’re not privy to the behind-the-scenes machinations and we still don’t know what precisely prompted this meeting. But by Trump’s new standards for dealing with Putin, words aren’t supposed to be trusted; it’s action to back it up that’s required.
