Dozens of Mangione supporters started lining up outside the courthouse around 4 a.m., hoping for a chance to be inside the room for the afternoon hearing.

Luigi Mangione, the 26-year-old accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a busy Manhattan sidewalk, will appear in court on Friday in New York City. The prosecution and defense are expected to give updates on the status of the case Friday.

Mangione, who has yet to enter a plea on federal murder charges, has pleaded not guilty to 11 state charges related to the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO.
