On Tuesday, Auburn football announced it will be claiming four new national titles: 1910 (new), 1914 1958 and 2004. Shortly after the announcement, Alabama senator and former Auburn head coach (1999-2008) Tommy Tuberville reacted to his 2004 team officially claiming the national title.
"Alabama has always been the butt of so many jokes because of education ... But we’re making a lot of strides."
AUBURN, Ala. Tommy Tuberville stepped down as coach at Auburn on Wednesday, following a disappointing season that culminated in the Tigers' first loss to Alabama in seven years. Players were informed at a team meeting in the football complex Wednesday evening, and Auburn athletic spokesman Kirk Sampson confirmed Tuberville's resignation. Tuberville did not immediately return a call to his cell ...
They won the national title with coach Gene Chizik and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Cam Newton in 2010, then lost 14 games over the next two years. They advanced to the championship game under coach Gus Malzahn in 2013, then delivered a string of mediocrity that essentially turned the Plains into a wasteland.

Football coaches often enter political game. Which former Mississippi coach could become US Senator?
Former Ole Miss football coach Tommy Tuberville is already a US Senator. Now, Derek Dooley is running for Senate. Who in Mississippi could be next?
In any event, and in my view, if doing best for Alabama is the objective, Tuberville should stay in the U.S. Senate. As America goes, Alabama goes. If America’s economy prospers (or declines), Alabama’s economy prospers (or declines).
