Mark Canha, a former outfielder with the Detroit Tigers, was designated for assignment on Monday by the Kansas City Royals, the team announced.

DETROIT -- Former Detroit Tigers outfielder Mark Canha was reinstated from the injured list and then designated for assignment by the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

After a disastrous start to the second half of the season, the Detroit Tigers have been playing much better of late.

DETROIT -- Jack Flaherty threw seven shutout innings while the Detroit Tigers blasted four home runs and three triples in a 10-0 rout of the Houston Astros on Monday night at Comerica Park. The Tigers (74-53) have won five of their last six and play the Astros (69-56) twice more this week.
