Breaking his silence amid ongoing row over his Sikh remark made during his visit to America, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on BJP and said that he will always speak up for the values that define India.

BJP asked Rahul Gandhi to withdraw his statement and said that several Sikh and gurdwara management bodies had met Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai to express concern over the issue.

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya shared the alleged anti-Modi poster on his X handle which said the Prime Minister was not welcome in New York. Modi is on a three-day US visit from Saturday.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of spreading lies about the remarks he had recently made in the United States and asked the Sikh community whether there was anything wrong in what he had said.

While interacting with students and members of the Indian diaspora in the US earlier this month, Rahul Gandhi had talked about Sikh rights, which had led to strong criticism by the BJP.

Rahul Gandhi defended his comments made in the US about Sikhs, accusing the BJP of lying to silence him. He stressed that all Indians should freely practice their religion. The BJP urged him to retract his statement,

Members of several Sikh religious bodies met with a Union minister on Saturday to discuss their concerns pertaining to the comments, the Hindutva party said.

Ravneet Bittu criticised Rahul Gandhi for his comments made during a visit to the USA. He said Rahul Gandhi is not an Indian as he has spent most of his time outside. He doesn't love his country much because he goes abroad and says everything in the wrong way.

The Congress on Wednesday filed police complaints against Bittu, two other BJP leaders and a Shinde Sena MLA for issuing threats to the Leader of the Opposition
