NEW YORK (AP) — Commissioner Rob Manfred announced Tuesday that Pete Rose, Shoeless Joe Jackson and other players permanently banned by the sport would have their statuses restored at death.

Pete Rose, 'Shoeless' Joe Jackson and 14 others were posthumously removed from MLB's ineligible list, making Hall of Fame induction possible for all of them.

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- After more than three decades, Pete Rose and other deceased players can now be considered for nomination into the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was more than 100 years ago that Shoeless Joe Jackson was among eight Black Sox banned from baseball for throwing the 1919 World Series. It’s been more than 35 years since Pete Rose suffered the same fate after betting on the sport as a player and manager of the Cincinnati Reds in the mid-1980s.
