Rates for new 30-year loans have been wavering in an elevated range the last three weeks—and just nudged a bit higher. Rate movement was mixed across other loan types.

The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dipped by two basis points this week, according to data released Thursday from Freddie Mac. “Recent mortgage rate stability continues to benefit potential buyers this spring, as reflected in the uptick in purchase applications,” Freddie Mac wrote in its release.

The average rate on a 30-year mortgage in the U.S. fell slightly this week, a welcome reversal for homebuyers in what's traditionally the housing market's busiest time of the year.
