Michigan’s softball team was on the losing end of a slugfest in an NCAA regional elimination game Saturday night, falling 10-8 to Central Florida in Austin, Texas.
The Knights, who rallied five times against the Wolverines, will face top-seeded Texas in the regional final on Sunday.
Freshman Lauren Putz hit the go-ahead, two-run homer in the sixth inning, as Michigan opened the Austin Regional with a 4-3 win over UCF.
Texas softball set multiple records while swatting six home runs. The Longhorns are just one win away from the NCAA Tournament super regionals.
The Knights gave up three runs in the top of the sixth, highlighted by a two-run homer in losing 4-3 to the Wolverines in the opener.
The UCF Knights softball season has yet one more game to go, with the hope for two more on Sunday, but they first must beat Michigan tonight.
