Aston Martin’s Saudi backers are prepared to offer Max Verstappen £230 million over three years to drive for them in what has been described as the “deal of the century”.

Fernando Alonso has said that rumours linking Max Verstappen with a switch to Aston Martin are "very good for the team" but insists it is "very unlikely" the pair will ever be teammates.

Verstappen has long been linked with a move to Aston Martin. The 27-year-old holds a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2028 though there are suggestions break clauses exist should the squad fail to meet certain performance metrics – thought to be a prolonged period outside of the top three in the championship.
