Google is integrating its Gemini AI chatbot right into the Chrome web browser, making it easier to talk to the AI assistant on your PC.
Project Astra debuted at I/O 2024 as a next-generation AI assistant that can view the world around you, and provide advice and tips throughout the day. Since then, Astra has been incorporated into the camera and screen-sharing capabilities of the Gemini app and Google says it upgraded Astra's voice output to be more natural with native audio,
Google says the release version of 2.5 Flash is better at reasoning, coding, and multimodality, but it uses 20–30 percent fewer tokens than the preview version. This edition is now live in Vertex AI, AI Studio, and the Gemini app. It will be made the default model in early June.
Improved PDF access: Previously, if you opened a scanned PDF with Chrome, there was no way to use a screen reader to interact with it. Now, thanks to OCR, Chrome can recognize text in a document and allow you to highlight it, copy it, search it, or use a screen reader to read the text aloud.
Google integrated Gemini AI into Android’s TalkBack feature. This enables users to get image descriptions when alt text is not available. Now, with a new update, users can now ask questions about the image or content displayed on the screen.
