Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure, however, goes all-out weird with fewer frights but intriguing new twists on favorite characters' personalities. And plenty of puns.

Cars Land promised to drop visitors into a 360-degree recreation of Radiator Springs, the fictional Route 66 town at the heart of the Pixar animated film franchise.

“Let’s build Radiator Springs,” said John Lasseter, Pixar chief and Imagineering advisor. A year later, Cars Land was unveiled as part of a $1 billion expansion of Disney California Adventure.
