In exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick, the Lakers acquired Luka Dončić, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris from the Dallas Mavericks.

In the Lakers announcement of the Doncic addition, they posted a photo of him wearing his No. 77 jersey number but in their uniform. It has also been confirmed by ESPN's Dave McMenamin that Doncic will continue wearing No. 77 with the Lakers.
