South Auckland residents, plagued with decades of anti-social behaviour at a "dark, dingy" alleyway ... the elderly and students from three nearby schools who used it as a short cut.

For many years people had been scared to use the alleyway, but it has since been upgraded with lights, a new fence and local artwork.
