Create a Linux VM. Allocate a VMDK that's as large as (or a little larger than) the laptop drive. Connect the laptop drive to the physical system. "dd" from the disk to the VMDK.
If you remove the disk of a physical system and hook it up to another running computer via USB or something, is there anyway to somehow convert the disk into a VM? Without actually booting it up ...
If you want to convert OVA/OVF Files to Hyper-V VM, extract the OVA file, convert the hard drive to VHD or VHDX format, and then create the machine.
