The Great Lakes Piping Plover Conservation Team says one of the birds they track has survived another year migrating between Michigan and Florida despite suffering a broken leg.

A five-year-old female Great Lakes piping plover known as LeVeL is seen in November 2024 in wintering grounds in Crandon Park, Florida, back where it was first spotted last winter with a broken leg.
