Ukraine's parliament appointed the country's first new prime minister in five years on Thursday, part of a major cabinet overhaul aimed at revitalising wartime management as prospects for peace with Russia grow dim.

The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) has supported the appointment of 13 new ministers to the Cabinet of Ministers (the Ukrainian government) with 253 votes. The vote breakdown was as follows: 194 of 232 Servant of the People MPs voted in favor, none from European Solidarity voted for, with 8 against; none of Batkivshchyna’s 24 deputies voted in favor, with 11 abstaining.
